Our News World

How can one dissent on something, when they do not know what is happening around them. This was the core and substantial question of «Our News World». While reflecting on how much we  know or didn't know what's happening around fellow team members, we realized how little we know about places farther away.

 

Therefore, we started questioning our sources of information and recorded our news consumption for seven days. Every article, online newspaper, radio show, TV channel, instagram story was recorded with their con earning location and placed on a world map. This was the basis for our critical reflection on our news consumption, as information is the minimal requirement to form a dissent. The result is a world map only showing the countries mentioned during the week.

 

It is quite shocking how huge parts of the world are non-represented in our news consumption and shows how little we know about countries in the southern hemisphere.
